PICKERING FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL

The Pickering Food Truck Festival is one of three food truck festivals on this summer. I missed the Toronto Food Truck Festival the previous weekend, so I had to make it out for this one! The third festival is in Richmond Hill the first weekend of September and I hope to get there as well.

Over 30 food trucks were gathered on this evening, giving me lots of options. I decided I was in the mood for mac and cheese, and Feed the Six sounded like they had the perfect one. I was shocked when my order came out and looked nothing like mac and cheese! It was two crispy cubes, not the ooey gooey cheesy noodles I had been expecting. I bit in the find that familiar creamy texture on the inside of the crunchy cubes, which was delicious! The portion was small (I definately could have eaten a second serving) but it matched the low price tag.

And of course I could not leave a food truck festival without getting ice cream! I saw the familiar cones of Eva's Original Chimneys throughout the crowd, but decided to try something different (but not too different as it turns out). I grabbed a churro cone with caramel and walnuts from Pancho's Bakery. Before I could even take a picture, it was melting down my hand! I scrambled to take one quickly before digging in.

Unfortunately, most of the walnuts had fallen off, in the 10 seconds it took me to take a picture. The churro cone was also cold which I am not sure was intentional, but I would have prefered it warm. It tasted as good as one can expect soft serve to taste with the circumstances. I think next time I will stick with Eva's.

We had a great experience at the Pickering Food Truck Festival and I hope I have time to go to the one in Richmond Hill in two weeks. Plenty of fabulous food trucks to choose from.
