SWEET MAPLE

Since our return from Montreal last week, Max and I have been taking it pretty easy on our bikes. However, we had set a goal of 1250km for September, and the end of the month crept up quicker than we expected! It was now September 28 and we still needed 150km more to reach our goal. We decided a trip to the cottage (just outside Port Perry) and back would get us to where we needed to be. Why not right?
Yesterday afternoon around 4:30pm we set out, which proved to not be the smartest move since the sun is starting to set earlier. As a result, we spent an hour trying to find our way in the pitch black. I am not a big fan of riding at night, and especially not on bumpy roads with no lights.
Today's ride home was a lot more pleasant! We started our day with breakfast from Sweet Maple in Port Perry. This breakfast and lunch diner has all the usual breakfast options, and surprised us with a long list of daily specials as well.
Even though the "Sausage Scrambler" (which was one of the specials) did sound good, I have a hard time saying "no" to eggs benedict. For under $10 my eggs came with home fries, onions and fruit. The sauce was maybe a touch too lemony, but that was my only minor complaint.
With this delicious breakfast to fuel us, we got home in record speed averaging 28km per hour! Not bad for an almost three hour ride.
