NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY

Today is National Pancake Day so I headed over to Mildred's Temple Kitchen in Liberty Village. Many blogs and articles claim Mildred's pancakes are the best in Toronto, so what better way to celebrate this holiday!

This modern morning spot serves brunch on weekends, and "b'lunch" during the week. Really the only breakfast food on the b'lunch menu is the pancakes, with other choices being burgers, salads and the like. The atmosphere is what you would expect to find in Liberty Village, very on trend.

We were seated for several minutes before our waiter introduced himself and got us water. The restaurant was not overly busy (as it was a Monday morning) and I hoped this would not be an indicator of how the rest of the meal would go. Unfortunately, it was, with service being slow our entire stay.

Thankfully the food made up for the service Here is what I was in for with "Mrs.Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes":

The fluffiest pancakes in all the land served with lanark county maple syrup, wild blueberry compote & whipped cream.

Whipped cream is always a good idea. Period. My pancakes came piled high, topped with blueberries and drizzled in maple syrup. They were light and fluffy just as the menu stated. As for the best pancakes in Toronto? I would say they are up there but not quite on their own level. They certainly were delicious and would be worth coming back for.

Thank you Mildred's Temple Kitchen for celebrating National Pancake Day with me! I hope everyone enjoyed their pancakes today.
