MONTREAL TRIP DAY 2: COFFEE + BIKES + PASTA

Today's ride flew by in comparison to yesterday's! The trip from Trenton to Kingston was 55km less than the previous days so that might have something to do with it.

Travelling by bike is great because you can make stops whenever you want. There is no set time you have to be anywhere which means you can set your own pace and really take in your surroundings. We barely made it 15km today before we decided to stop. A tall sign that read "BIKES+COFFEE" caught our eye and we had no choice really but to check it out.

The Brake Room is a hidden gem in Belleville that serves coffee, as well as doing bike repairs. The cafe took up have the room with tables to sit at and enjoy your coffee. The other half of the room was the garage used for repairing bikes. It was a really neat place and we spent a good chunk of time sipping coffee (or hot chocolate in my case. I know, I am a child) and chatting with the staff. If I lived in Belleville this would definately be a place I would frequent!

After our premature break we set off again, and pretty much made it the rest of the way with only short stops. A mere 99km later and we were in Kingston.

For dinner, we both decided a carb-filled pasta was would help us refuel. My sister, who we were staying with, suggested Casa Domenico. The restaurant classifies itself as "fine Italian dining" but I would say the atmosphere was pretty casual. The prices were a bit up there though, $20~ for pasta dishes.

"Gnocchi al Gorgonzola" was potato dumplings, roasted red pepper, spinach and toasted hazelnuts in a gorgonzola cream sauce, and was what I ate. It was delicious and definately very filling. The toasted hazelnuts added a nice crunch to an otherwise soft dish.

With day 2 done, we hit the hay. Tomorrow we set our sites for Brockville!
