The fact that it is September already is making me miserable. I love the heat and the weather this summer has been nothing but perfect to me. The start of September means that the temperature is starting to drop and before we know it we will be knee deep in snow.
Ok, maybe I am being a bit dramatic. Winter is not here just yet, and I will still be on my bike trekking for food until the snow stops me.
Today I biked to grk ygrt, an adorable little place tucked away in Kensington Market. The first thing that caught my attention about this Frozen Yogurt shop, was the colourful geometric painting on the patio and steps (the perfect Instagram background).
grk ygrt claims to have the only homemade frozen yogurt in Toronto. You can choose regular yogurt or frozen yogurt, and the topping options range from "Cherry Cheescake" to "The Market", the latter including cucumber, sun-dried tomato pesto, hemp and chia seeds. Although I have nothing against vegetables, "The Market" was not particularly appealing to me. My heart lay with "Beach Party" on frozen yogurt, because as I mentioned before, I am not ready to let go of summer just yet!
"Beach Party" entailed peach preserve, white chocolate, coconut flakes and a pink mini drink umbrella. My first bite of yogurt was not what I was expected at all. It bared little resemblance to what I usually associate frozen yogurt with (Yogen Fruz), but it was delicious! It was thick and smooth and better than I could have imagined.
I am glad I checked out this little frozen yogurt shop. If you are in Kensington Market this is a great spot to stop and grab a treat. They also have milkshakes which I will definately be back to try soon.
