SAVING GRACE

Today felt like a good day for brunch, so here we are! I was meeting a good friend of mine at Saving Grace on Dundas. She had heard good things about this restaurant and I was excited to try as well.
Upon arrival, there was a line of about eight people out the door. I was a little bummed as I was not expecting to have to wait at all. We got in line and were pleasantly surprised at how quick it moved. We were seated within ten minutes. The dining area was very cozy and the dishes were all mismatched which gave it a cool vibe.
The menu features smoothies, egg dishes, waffles and french toast. The french toast with caramelized bananas seemed like the only logical choice for me. I also got a coconut, mango and lime smoothie to start.
Our smoothies came out quick enough, but the food was another story. We were seated at 1:15pm and did not get our food until 1:50pm. There was only one server working in a restaurant that was packed, which does not make sense to me. Having one extra server would have made a significant difference.
Anyway, the french toast was beautifully plated and sprinkled with icing sugar (Instagram worthy for sure). I really enjoyed the caramelized bananas, but I found there was a bit too much maple syrup, making the toast extremely sweet.
Overall, we had a decent experience. The service definitely needs improvement but the food was good. That being said, I do not think Saving Grace lives up to the hype of the reviews I read beforehand. Give it a try yourself and let me know what you think!
