Today I felt like grabbing something healthy on my morning ride, so I stopped by Village Juicery. From their website: we make 100% organic cold press juice, plant based food, and personal cleanses. The Breakfast Jars were what I really wanted to try, and I went with the probiotic option which came filled with coconut yogurt, chia seeds, hand made sunflower seed milk, seasonal fruit, pumpkin seeds, hemp hearts and vanilla.
Their breakfast jars are beautiful, with bright pops of colours from strawberries and other fruits. Coconut is one of my favourite flavours and it looked like it was going to be really tasty, and it was! It was the perfect portion size for refueling on my ride. The only complaint I had was that the chia seeds were very mushy. I am not sure how this could be avoided as they are covered in yogurt and milk, but I would have preferred it without the chia seed.
I had a couple other errand to run in the area before heading home, and while I was getting these done, my mom texted me asking if I wanted to go for lunch. How could I say no! We planned to meet at Fabarnak.
Fabarnak offers breakfast and lunch and is open until 4pm daily. Breakfast is available from open to close and they also have a Grab and Go! menu. Right away their "Daily Grilled Cheese" caught my eye.
Some kind of cheese and other goodness stuffed between 2 slices of crispy sourdough.
Today's grilled cheese sported goat cheese, dates and spinach. This was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever eaten. It was a little heavy with the cheese, but the flavours were top notch. I also got the house salad with avocado which was fabulous as well. The soup of the day came with my sandwich and was a bit bland for my liking, but overall the food was very impressive.
