My emotions were mixed today. On one hand, I was excited to spend the whole day biking as it was supposed to be a beautiful day. On the other hand, I had logged over 200km in the past two days and did not know how well my legs could take another 160km! It was a nervous excitement that filled me as I pedaled away.
We pushed out 100km and made it to Oakville before we stopped for lunch. We came up to Plank Restobar which looked like a trendy place. The decor was rustic and they described their food as "American tapas". The menu featured "Bits and Bites" as well as "Bigger Bites" and had everything from fish tacos to Cauliflower Fritters. They also have "Dim Sum Hour" every weekday from 3-5 which made me wish we came a few hours later. I knew I felt like a pizza but had a hard time deciding which one. "Not Mushroom For Improvement" was what I decided on.
Creamed foraged mushroom, hen's egg, pecorino, fior de latte, scallions.
The hen's egg was cracked on top which was something I had never seen before and was a nice touch! The whole pizza was delicious but of course I like the portion with the egg the best. My boyfriend ordered the Steak Frites which came with house cut fries. His option was under the "Bigger Bites" section of the menu and was a good size to serve one.
The service was quick enough and the staff were friendly. Great atmosphere as well. If anyone is ever in Oakville definitely give this place a try!
The rest of the day was a struggle, but we made it! I am extremely proud of myself and my boyfriend for everything we accomplished the past couple of days. We put in a lot of hard work and in return had an amazing time.
